Alan Balmer has done it again! Written in the same style as his previous 100 Day devotional book, Alan includes a new vocabulary word for the day, and builds a devotional around that word. It is an excellent way to learn "academically" and grow "spiritually". Leading the reader to reflect upon their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, consider His atoning sacrifice, and gently guiding into what the response to that sacrifice ought to be, this book takes the reader on a deep journey between their own heart and the Heart of the Father. One sentence in particular captured my heart and caused deep introspection regarding my own views of Jesus, “Despite all the miracles that Jesus performed, the good deeds He displayed, and the life of excellence that He lived, at the end of Jesus’ life all the soldiers saw of lasting worth were His clothes.". What a hook to the heart!! Thanks, Alan, for your heart for the Kingdom!

I liked this book for the same reason I enjoyed the 100 Day Vocabulary Word Devotional; it combines my love for words and for Bible study. Alan Balmer is gifted at writing with a strong command of Bible knowledge while remaining humble and relatable. Each day has thought-provoking questions to stimulate self-examination. The chapters are brief yet rich and engaging, perfect for a busy person's schedule. Excellent devotional for the reflective Lenten season.

With his unique way of approaching devotionals, Alan is quickly becoming one of my favorite Christian authors. As someone who is passionate about learning new words, I have very much enjoyed the opportunity to learn a new word every day that I can add to my lexicon. The bible passages listed have been very applicable to my daily challenges and celebrations.

Another inspiring book from Alan Balmer! These 40 devotionals which focus on Christ and His redeeming work caused me to dig deeper in my understanding and resulted in a greater sense of awe at the meaning of His sacrifice for us. Using his unique approach stemming from vocabulary word studies, Alan informs both mind and spirit, facilitating a meaningful devotional experience.

I recently purchased the 100 day vocabulary word devotional in paperback and love it! This is another great devotional that is a little more in depth with vocabulary, daily scripture and I really like the "Bottom Line of the Day", that sums up the whole study at the end of the daily devotion. Great devotional just in time for Easter!

This is the third book I've read by this author. I am very impressed. I have not quite finished this one yet, but I have really enjoyed it. Thanks for the inspiration and insight!

This 40 Day Lent Devotional is a great book. The scripture passages and devotions help us take a closer look at our own spiritual lives as Resurrection Day approaches and anytime. I love the wrap-up of each day's Devotion in "Bottom Line For Day" with simple application to our daily lives.

Mr. Balmer has done it again. His style of writing is both intuitive and thought provoking. The daily devotional are both practical and insightful. I encourage anyone looking for a daily reader to give this book a try. You will not be disappointed.
