I bought this book for my 4 year old daughter for Halloween and she loves it! The book is about 10 timid ghosts who live in a haunted house, but a witch moves in and wants them out; she scares them away to the woods one at a time by using Halloween related disguises and props until there is only one "clever" ghost left. My daughter noticed in the illustrations that the "pointy head ghost" is always watching the witch from behind and figures out that it's really the witch scaring her ghost friends. The clever ghost flies to the woods with the rest of the ghosts and they come up with a plan to scare the witch away by banding together and forming a huge ghost to scare her off and their plan works.The rhyming and repetitive text are so much fun to read and she's memorized it so we say it together as we read. The illustrations are really colorful and detailed, so much so that every time we read it, we notice new details in the pictures. I bought some white gloves and used fabric paint to make a face on each glove finger to make the 10 timid ghosts. We each wear a glove and as each ghost gets scared off, we put one finger down to act out the story. My daughter loves this interactive element I've added; we even read this to her pre-k class and they loved it, especially with the "ghost gloves" I added (see photo). The story teaches subtraction in a way by counting downwards as each ghost flees. We've read it at least 25 times since I bought it and it never gets old. Fun and cute book for Halloween!

He could not have loved it more. My nephew is 2 and he kept asking us to read it over and over the first night. When one of us got tired of reading it, we'd send him over to the next person to read it. He had us read it at least 10 times the first night and we would let him chime in at certain parts that he learned fast.The repetitive requests to read it continued on well beyond the first night according to my sister.The book has a very rhythmic feel. Making it easy and fun to read. I like how the ghosts work as a team and stand up for themselves against the bully/witch at the end.The pictures are super cute too. My nephew enjoyed finding all the ghosts in each of their hiding places on every page.I would buy it 5 times over if I had to. Totally worth every penny!

Love this very cute story. We read it year-round, not just at Halloween.Update:In addition to the cute story and fun rhymes, We've started using this book to help our 3yo count, identify numerals, and do very rudimentary math. He identifies the large number on each page, counts the ghosts on each page, and then we discuss if there are X ghosts, how many will there be when one leaves? It's a great tool in addition to being a great story.

Got this for my 2 year old who, since Halloween, has loved all things "spooky". He loves this book and I do too. It's fun to read and has a nice rhythm so you can also sing it. The first month we got it, he wanted me to read it every night at least twice. It's now part of our regular book set I read each evening to him before bed.

This is both of my kid'a favorite Halloween book. I read it as "five little monkey jumping on the bed", they wants this book every night even now (about 3month after Halloween). Since we read it too many times, now my older one who is 4years old memories every single wards in this book and pretend she can read it by herself !! So funny...!! It was fun find hidden goat on every page, and count them. Such a cute book

This is a wonderful book for Halloween for any child from one to nine years old. There are things to see in the illustrations and ghosts to count. The story line is fun and keeps the child active with the book. Worth owning and keeping.

Picked by my kid from the book fair this is one of my favorite books to read the kids (and theirs too). They are a fan of the spooky haunted theme and it captures the imagination while fixation their minds on counting and taking in and processing information. Quick satisfying read for the babies. Kids love for it to be read time and time again.
