This a fantastic true story about an Army Medics year in Vietnam. It is very interesting because it tells of so many facets of the medic. From working in a clinic to a field medic in vicious firefights. Well done. I especially liked it because it showed me what !I brother went through. He was a Navy HM3 (Hospital Corpsman) assigned to the First Marines in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967. He did not like to talk about his own experiences except once in a while. I know now why. Thank you for writing thugs book. Thank all of you medics and corpsman for the bravery you showed and lives you saved. I'll be forever grateful.

I too was a "Combat Medic" with with the 9th Infantry Division, A. Co.,6th Bn. 31st Infantry. FSB Moore and Dong Tam. We havelived the same fears, suffered the same hardships, and we werechanged forever ! We did the best we could with only ten weeks at Fort Sam, "91A-10 Combat Medic ! "Your book says it all ! One "Doc" to another ! Thank you and so very well done ! Ths is a fantastically written book from the Man who patch up my own Father in the fire fight that is highlighted herein. I’ve read alot of books from first hand accounts about the war in Vietnam but this one takes the cake. It is a graffic and heroing ride in Dan’s shoes that really makes you appreciate the awesome situation these young men were in. Read it.

An incredible look into the heart and experiences of a combat medic. The ranks of Medal of Honor winners are full of combat medics. This book tells us why.

Thought I knew from what thanks to my dad, however following my cousins unit through the eyes of the “doc” was a TRUE eye opener. These brave boys who had to become men in the blink of an eye, are very real heroes. To bad it has taken ‘till now for this country to figure it out. From 1 vet to another...thank you. USN ‘76-97’.

I really enjoyed this book could relate a lot to the experiences having been a medic in the South African Army.

Great book.

I was in the 9th ID during the same time frame as this author. Other then that our experiences were 100% different.I was in a maintenance battalion the author was a Combat Medic. He relates the horrors, heroics and camaraderie that only infantry men in the jungle know. Yet he is able to give the rest of us a small feel for what it was like.Great book!
