I bought this for my home-schooled son who is done with his work for the year. I have found several mistakes including this one. If you can't count on it being correct it's worthless.

The Brain Quest books are all excellent. We used the 3rd Grade book with my son and this year moved up to the 4th Grade book. We've been doing them one-year ahead (so we are working on 4th grade but he's going into 3rd). I think the books ARE appropriate to the grade-level indicated, but in our circumstance we use them to provide supplemental material for a child who is a little ahead. I think they would be just as appropriate for students who are struggling or just need extra practice in a particular domain. I recommend using the Amazon "quick-look" to see which concepts the book covers to check that it's challenging enough for your child. The writing, vocabulary, history and science lessons are really great and each "assignment" builds on the next. A child could sit down and do one of those without adult oversight, however many of the math lessons do require an adult to sit down with a child to explain basic concepts (the explanations in the book are a little brief and not always intuitive). We like these books for summer work and also to supplement homework throughout the year.

I use for homeschool. It covers each skill they'll do in school ONCE. Soooo, I don't know how useful this is as a supplement for regular school, but I guess if you want to review each thing once it would be good.It DOES helps to see what areas your kid needs improvement. If they go thru a page quickly, they got it. If they struggle, you can find an app or online game that reinforces that skill until they are good at it.

I bought this for my 3rd grader to help her get familiar with what she'll be learning next year. She also asked for this and loves it. I have bought Brain Quest workbooks before and my kids love them. Tons of activities and stickers are included in the book.

It's excellent subject coverage for my homeschooled son. Unfortunately the brain boxes don't have enough info for a homeschool student or instructor. I am by no means uneducated. I achieved all A's in college but I don't always remember all the rules and labels and formulas. It would be great if this company would create a teaching guide. I also wish it went beyond 6th grade. I have 4 stars because of the lack of info needed to help your child with the assignments. Whether or not a child attends a standard school many parents are in need of more guidance for working with their child especially with common core curriculum which even teachers with degrees barely understand and very much dislike.

My son has gone through one language workbook and 3 math workbooks for each grade level. For grade 3, I got the spectrum language art, which took almost 9 months to finish, and I felt it was a bit too much. So, I got this to combine math and language into one book. Plus, Brain Quest is very popular with lots of good review, and I wanted to try it. However, I do not like it much. This workbook is busy. I feel it's unfocused, unsystematic, randomly doing this and that. It has lots of variety of sections, but I don't know if a child can really learn coherently. Since I got it already, I will have my son to go through this book, but probably not get this again.

I didn't like this work but as much as some of the others. My daughter is home schooled. I didn't find that this work but did a very good job of teaching the lesson before she had to perform it. I think this will be good for a summer review book but not for teaching homeschool.

I bought a 1st grade one for my preschooler and this one for my 7 year old 2nd grader. I am reviewing the 4th grade notebook here. My son is gifted and gets some gifted hours at school (which for some reason are always on days off or get canceled). But for him the second grade class is just like daycare and there's not much learning going on. I'm not an educator, nor am I of gifted intelligence, so I don't know how to pick up the slack at home. I bought this two grades up because I thought it could be the educator that I am not and provide some challenge. It's working. The problems are challenging and fun and applicable in the real world. He very much enjoys it. As with the one for my non-gifted daughter, I would say go up at least one grade level because otherwise they may be too simple.
